Just one more week to the SIGGS Mid-term Conference. The Conference is hosted by the National Olympic Committee of Portugal in Lisbon on 3-4 February. Exactly one year after the Kick-off meeting, it is an excellent occasion to discuss what has been achieved and what can be developed in the final year of the project.
The Mid-term Conference will be opened by a speech of Mr. Antonio Silva Mendes, Director of Youth and Sport of the European Commission, on the importance of good governance in sport for the European Union. Following his speech, Mr. Jean-Michel Saive, Chair of the EOC Athletes' Commission, will talk about the need for good governance in sport from the point of view of the athletes. Consequently, the first day of the Mid-term Conference will be devoted entirely to the SIGGS Project and on the presentation of the results of the first consultation round as well as the presentation of the second updated version of the self-evaluation tool. This new version will include the Roadmaps and Action Plan. Participants will be able to test the various new features during a test session.
On the second day, a number of European and international federations (including the International Ski Federation (FIS) and the European Basketball Federation (FIBA Europe) will present their activities in the field of good governance. These presentations will be followed by a panel discussion on the "way forward towards better governance in sport". During the afternoon, a number of internal workshops will be organised with the project partners.
You will be able to follow the ongoing activities via the twitter-account of the SIGGS-Project. For more information, you can send an email to: [email protected]
