The National Olympic Committee of Lithuania (LNOC) is an independent public organisation that participates in the world Olympic Movement. Lithuania’s Olympic debut was in 1924 in Paris. This year is also considered to be the year of LNOC’s international recognition. The LNOC actively participates in the preparation of Lithuanian athletes for the Olympic Games and supports the development of Olympic and Paralympic sports programs in Lithuania.
According to specific criteria, the LNOC also offers support to the 36 Olympic sport federations. The LNOC also supports Olympic education programs, the Lithuanian Olympic Academy, the Lithuanian Paralympic Committee, and other Olympic organisations, partially finances various Olympic sporting events and programs. The LNOC also helps to run programs that help sports specialists increase their qualifications, supports sports science and medical development, and ensure that the history of the Olympic movement is never forgotten.
The organisation cooperates with various governmental and public institutions in its effort to protect the interests of athletes, coaches, medical staff, Olympians and others. It offers suggestions on how to strengthen and improve sports law.
